I think this is one of those situations where the "centre" of an image is NOT to be avoided. The wide angle lens gives a sense of closure and protection to the image, almost like framing, but yet different.
The details in the extremes of the image are pretty good considering the challenge of taking this kind of shot.
Once question? Is it possible to use the shadows and highlights filter to balance out details in these extremes. (reason.... while this image will look great on a screen, capturing details in shadows and highlights is much harder in paper of canvas medium. If there is any desire to see this in print, on a wall for instance.... which is where it belongs, flattening the image a bit will help to retain details in the extremes. Reducing contrast won't work, becasue that will kill the "spark".)
First I'd like to start of with saying how much this photo really caught my eye as a thumbnail, seriously a stand out capture that's for sure. The lighting is what really caught my eye though, very bright and casting strong dark shadows which flow into the foreground making it an interesting lead in line that draws me into the center of the image. The rays of light forming from the center a in correct exposure and make a nice atmosphere. The wide angle has done wonders here, the distortion works well and isn't a problem at all. The only critique I can give is that I would have used a soft grad to slide down to get some more blue in the sky, but doesn't really need that so well done

Good luck, well done.
