Artist's CommentsBeing apart and lonely is like rain. It climbs toward evening from the ocean plains; from flat places, rolling and remote, it climbs to heaven, which is its old abode. And only when leaving heaven drops upon the city. It rains down on us in those twittering hours when the streets turn their faces to the dawn, and when two bodies who have found nothing, dissapointed and depressed, roll over; and when two people who despise eachother have to sleep together in one bed- that is when loneliness receives the rivers... Vision: I actually don't think there is one bad thing about this, but I'm going to critique it anyway. I think it is actually beautiful. As the title suggests, the picture makes me get a sense of lonliness, but the beautiful colour makes me feel happy, so it kind of makes... happy lonliness? And the colour of the flower definitley gives a feeling of summer, while the purple undertones in the background keep it from being too 'in your face'. Perfect.
Originality: I have not seen a picture like this one recently. It is most definitley new, and considering the colours in this and the time of year now, it is an extreemly fresh peice. Seeing it in full view surprises me with the intensity of the colours and detail. Perhaps another shot a little closer up would have been nice?
Technique: I love the way that it is not 'boring' and the flower is placed in the center of the page. I love that you have gone one step further by changing positions, and the way that just doing this can completley change the shot.
Impact: It most certainly blows my mind. As to what emotions I feel when I see it... I'm not sure. There are certainly strong, positive emotions I get from it, but I'm not exactly sure what they are. Whatever they are, this is an amazing shot.
Absolutley, mind-blowingly, face-meltingly, beautifully amazing.
