Mysterious, full of intrigue, and yet filled with a gentle visual calm, this piece beckons a kind of naturalistic mysticism. Imagine yourself as a medieval peasant or knight who's wandered from home, perhaps lost, and you've only the forest to offer you comfort.

The natural greens are effectively juxtaposed against the more ethereal blue-gray-violet mists that only half enshroud the upper portions of the trees, but effectively conceal the forest beyond.

But all it not lush. There are dashes of decay in the form of yellowing and browning leaves scattered throughout, but the abundance of green reassures us that this colorful site of death is small, insignificant, and merely temporary as fresh healthy leaves and limbs come to rejuvenate the mother host.

Again, imagine you as a lone knight, with only your armor and sword at your side. No horse, no shield, no squire, and as you progress through this lush wood you may hear the occasional woodland creature. Hear the chirp of a bird high above or resting on a branch nearby. Or maybe under the growth you hear a rabbit scuttling about as it dashes away to avoid you. If you really use your imagination you might hear the very distant call of a woman singing in a very light melodious voice. Or, perhaps the joyful voice of maidens exchanging gossip as they pick herbs and flowers.

We may go even further well back in time to hear the sounds of animals long extinct, again foraging through the wood looking for primitive truffles to feast on, or a place to lay down for a while and feel the blanket warmth and coolness both of the fine mist hanging in the forest air.

Recall the last time you walked through a forest, and heard those sounds and smelled the natural scents of earth, trees, their leafs and flower pedals. Recall the freshness of the air and the perfume of the forest. Remember how you soaked it in, and the peace and calm it brought you as the wonder of nature surrounded you.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what this picture is all about. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=":) (Smile)"/>
